Savage getting into the AR business

Saw that Savage has come out with AR15 and AR10 models. Their 10 looks interesting, and it has non reciprocating bolt with side charge handle. Looks like there may not be much compatability with other manufacrurer parts, though. The 10 is available in .308 and 6.5CM

It's a bit suprising they are jumping into the AR market.

Every semi auto has a reciprocating bolt. The savage has a side charging handle that doesn't reciprocate (move) when fired. That's not necessarily new technology. The SCAR has a side charging handle that reciprocates.

Looking at the pics of the "10" models it appears they have both the side charging handle as well as a traditional at style charging handle too. Wonder why?

You can buy non reciprocating side charging ar-15 uppers for about 230 bucks. I'm going to get one whenever I get around to finishing my gun
