Savage 110 rebarrel ...Need help!

I have an older Savage 110l in 243. I never use it am thinking of builing on the action. Anyone ever done this? I am looking at 22-250, 221fireball or a 338 federal.From what I read the 22-250 requires no bolt head spacing...True or not? Please anyone HELP!!

I think if you get a bbl for a Savage all you do is screw it on,,I would want to have headspace gauges but dont know if it is a must,,any of the 308-30-06 boltface calibers should work,,the 223 bolt face of the 221 would not

I was thinking of getting a 308. Same casing size as a 243 I believe.

Just wanted to make use of it. Saw a 338 fed barrl for 115.00. $ought it might be interesting. Looked at a Boyds stock for hunting.Thinking of a 22-250 and a target stock.
