Ok, just bought barely used black/blue accu-trigger 10ML II.

What powder/bullet combo's do you recommend?
Any recommended not to even bother with?
Any special do's/don't when seating a bullet vs the old ML's?

I have until next season to get this right :grin: so I'm looking for some advice AND where powder may be available local as well (west side)
 
4759 or N-110, 250 sst, Fed209a primer.

Start with 42 of each. Find 2,300 fps with the 4759 and you'll be done. With 110, add 100 fps.

Watch your vent liner. With sabots, do not let the barrel get warm. Make certain your scope bases do not touch the recoil lug. Make certain your scope base screws are short enough to tighten fully. Clean the barrel with JB Bore paste. 200 strokes and clean, then another 200 and clean.

That should get you off to a good start.

It came with all the books, tags, tools, DVD etc. + additional vent liners etc.. Now, the front base does look to come out maybe a fraction of a mm over the recoil lug, however, the recoil lug feels stepped down from the receiver anyway when you run your finger across it. I may pull the stock and put a caliper on it to be sure but it appears there's enough clearance or step down to prevent the front base from touching the lug - unless the lug moves?

68-70 grains H4198 with 300 grain BO was a killer on both ends in my gun. I had a thumbhole laminate and the factory recoil pad was pathetic. But that was the most accurate load out of my gun and it wasn't all that impressive 2-3 inch group @ 100 yds. Some people luck up and get great ones that shoot great right out of the box. Good luck with yours hope it is a shooter
 
I am using 60gr N120 and I don't think recoil is an issue...no where near my 300win mag..... My gun will shoot less than 1" at 100yds.. I think I may have got lucky and got a shooter...I just prefer the heavier bullets..
 
Luckily I have a buddy who's a savage 10ML shooter and has tried many a bullet/powder combo including some 300's.

I'm going to start out shooting the book recommended stuff like EWC posted then most likely try the 300's just to see how they shoot - that is unless I'm shooting a 1" group at 100 yds with the 250's :grin:

"Supposedly" this gun is a shooter with factory load rec's - it was a divorce sale gun... We'll see.

Looked really close last night - the recoil lug steps down on mine so the front base doesn't touch it at all. Straight home with it and the breech plug came right out - liner looked good and came with spare liners too. One I really liked about it was it has an original old school high gloss Nikon on it - the old Nikon that didn't say Monarch/Pro-Staff/BMaster etc.. Had one of these 25 years ago and it was the best low light scope I'd ever owned.

Time will tell - I too hope I have a shooter :grin:

Ok.. I have some 110 bought - already had 250G TC shockwaves and magnum express sabots......will the 250G shockwaves hold together with the pressure from 40-43 of the 110 based on your trials and errors or others that you know of? Would obviously like to utilize what I can however no sense wasting powder either if you already know the shockwaves will come apart under these pressures.

I shoot the bonded 250 shockwave with 44 grains of N-110 and the harvester red crush rib sabot. 3 deer killed with it so far, 125lb buck at 198 ranged yards hit a rib on the way in with bullet size entrance wound hit 2 ribs on the way out with a half dollar size exit wound hart and lungs where very mangled and a good blood trail. 73lb doe at 35 or 40 yards hit the spine found the blue tip and a few very small pieces of copper jacket complete pass through with aprox 1" entrance and about a 2" exit. 78lb doe at aprox. 75 yards hit 1 rib going in and went between ribs on the exit bullet size entrance and half dollar size exit good blood trail. All shots showed signs of expansion with the spine shot being a pretty good example of what the bullet would do on heavy bone at close range. I'm not shur how the unbonded versions compare to the bonded ones. The bonded bullets are suposed to have a thinner jacket but a bonded core. Give them a try and avoid heavy bone, if you see signs of major expansion on the ribs then switch to the bonded version or avoid the shoulder which ever you are more comfortable with.

I guess my other concern is whether or not the TC mag express sabot itself will seat tight enough to allow proper pressure following ignition and/or if they even hold up/leave heavy residue etc in the barrel from the plastic itself.
 
I'm in Milan go to Jackson at least once every week. I have MMP shorts MMP longs and the harvester red crush rib. I could let you have some to see what your gun likes.
 
I shoot 57 grains N-120 with the 300 grain Hornady XTP setting in an orange magnum sabot. I get less than moa at 100 yards.
The 300 grainers hit deer like a tank!!
 
WOW! I AM a procrastinator! I bought this Savage 10ML on 11/19 - completely setup - and its still sitting in my buddys loading room waiting to be shot!

I reckon I better get rolling on this pretty quick!
 
Scott , I think once you get this gun dialed in it will find a permanent place in your safe. WARNING don't let those boys carry this thing to the woods or else you may never see it again. :D

Well, I've decided if I'm taking this leap I'm taking the leap to loading for my rifles and handguns as well. This should be a fun year if I get off my rump and get this done!
 
I use IMR SR 4759 43grs with a MMP Sub Base & Barnes 245gr Spitfires. Have seen no reason to change yet.
