Caught 26 today, first trip out of the gate. Only 3 are females so it looks like they are just getting started,, these were in about 2 feet of water on jigs. We threw back about the same number of little under 12's, there are not many more painful things in life than throwing back an 11 7/8th inch crappie for me! That bowl of filets weighs just a hair under 10lbs, oh yeah. Have a crappie day.

Thanks Dalton, I thought I knew what a slab was, our best today was only 15" or so. I already said the females aren't even up yet, thanks for the buzz kill.

It should only get better over the next month or so, we just need some rain to get the water up a little and it will start to get really good. I'm pretty sure the spot we fished today will be unreachable by boat tomorrow or the next day because the gates are wide open.

Dalton is wrong anyway, there aren't any nice crappie in Sardis. Everybody knows you have to go to Arkabutla or Grenada to catch anything with some meat on it's bones:)

real nice crappie but a long way from slabs, those fish down there get 3 lbs plus many in the 2 lb range, good job and good eating

What a moron.
A slab is a slab no matter how big the fish get in that lake. Any crappie over 12 inches is a slab anywhere in the country. Nice catch MFBAB. Ignore the idiots. Some are only here to piss people off and start trouble.
ditto on this,he has done nothing but stirred the pot since he landed here,mike243

BTW, Dalton, thanks for the education on how big Sardis crappie get. We would have never known. Nevermind the fact that there are several of us on tndeer that have camps at Sardis and spend our entire springs down there.

Somebody needs to start posting on the size crappie you could catch if you learned to use Buck Perry jerkbaits. You elitist old timers with your crappie poles catching small crappie and calling them slabs... sheesh! ;)

This cold weather may put the lockjaw on them at Sardis. It's gettin close.

I'd love to see you catching crappie on those jerkbaits when the fish are right up on the cypress trees in 2 foot of water. :D
I'll catch 10 to your 1 with my 10 foot graphite tickler with a tube jig :D :D

Everybody knows the big crappie aren't in the shallow water. Buck Perry once caught 10 giant crappie on 10 consecutive casts with a spoonplug over deep water. They're piscivorous, man!
