Sandy Soil Question

I don't have any experience myself with planting food plots. Mostly never have due to all the agricultural ground on the farm I hunt but I have been talking to alot of people and I would like to give it a try if nothing else to see if the deer would use it. I have a great spot on this farm for a food plot BUT, the soil is very very sandy. Any suggestions on what I could plant in very sandy soil?
To give you an idea the place i want to plant is located on some low ground and has never been planted for atleast the 12yrs I have hunted it. It kinda of bottle necks back up into some woods. and is roughly about 2-3 acres. The higher ground to the north of it is rotated in corn and soybean every year and so is a smaller field to the east. south and west is mostly woods cow pasture and hayfield. Any suggestions will be appreciated. and if you think its probably not worth me messing with the sandy soil just let me know it wont hurt my feelings. The farm is very productive as it is just wanting to try something different.

Lot of green beans get planted in our sandy loam soils and do well. Ill go ahead and say it, get a soil test!

If you already have ag fields on your property that border this plot then unless you really want to try out the foodplot idea I would think that letting it get really thick and nasty with briars and brush to add an area of thick cover would be more beneficial, but thats just what I would do

But if you want to plant something there, Whitetail Institute makes a special blend for poorer quality soils. I think its called Imperial Extreme or something like that

Id say a fall plot would be better than trying to have a summer/spring plot in soil that s not gonna hold much moisture.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to get a soil test the next time i get out there.
Droptine thats kind of what I was thinking but It gets mowed every year by the property owner regardless. And there is a ton of thick cover surrounding the open fields. Inside the woods skirting the real thick stuff is where I usually have most of my stand locations.
Some of the other guys I have talked to have had alot of success with plots this close to ag fields that is what has sparked my interest in trying it out.
