Lot of folks burn WMA deer hunts every year and would bet there are more than anybody would guess . Seenem post on here a lot weather life happens, nobody seeing anything football game is on ect ... lol congrats on the big birds maybe some day when I get a chance

Great job! Looks like y'all tore em up. Always been a pet peeve of mine for folks to put in for special hunts that others could've used and not even go. Do your research before potentially taking away a tag someone else would have used.

Great job! Looks like y'all tore em up. Always been a pet peeve of mine for folks to put in for special hunts that others could've used and not even go. Do your research before potentially taking away a tag someone else would have used.

I trimmed off the wings and legs and slow-cooked them. the leg meat has substantial "spindle" fibers in them, sorta like a wild turkey, but they taste good if you take the time to pick them clean.

I cooked all that meat with some ancho chilies in adobo sauce and made tacos & quesadillas out of it - tasty stuff.

ASO has Facebook that's how I got their contact info. They told me they were booked up but was able to get in on a cancellation. They only hunt Saturdays I think.

As for the meat, skin the whole thing out. The legs are big enough that they're worth the effort. If you're into making stock, cut the wings off, cut the neck out, and smoke them with the legless & breastless carcass. They make a great stock as well.

The yellow fat is a good quality fat, so preserve as much as you can of that on the carcass.
