I understand with not playing games like this. As a fan these games are great. Playing a good opponent that you typically don't get to play is great to watch. It's good for college football but the way the committee ranks teams it doesn't make sense to schedule these games. With 9 conference and 1 bye week is a gauntlet. Playing that many tough games will wear down your team.
I love the idea of playing Ohio State, ND, Oregon, Michigan but scheduling these games don't make sense.

9-game SEC schedule. There is no point in playing decent OOC opponents any longer given how the committee doesn't seem to care much about SOS. Alabama took care of Ohio St handily in their last match up, how about the GBO's? 😂 #neylandnorth…I remember that @$$ whipping well.

You want to be the best, play the best.

That makes perfect sense to me and you'd hope these other teams fans travel well.
Hell week 1 would seam like the first week of the playoffs! Be a tough row to hoe.

When i saw that CJH HAD DECIDED TO allow Illinois have home field advantage at Vandy and go practice at Mama Boys Academy instead. I thought what a bone head move. Almost as bone head as letting his players run around in the Northern cold at the Shoe.

Talk about setting urself up for failure. .

That's the whole point of a 9-game SEC schedule—exact same way the Big 10 does. Not to mention in order to properly schedule a 9th SEC game there are now series, which might have been on the books for years, that have to be cancelled or postponed in order to get everything adjusted and make it work.
Alabama has been scheduling decent OOC opponents since 2008. The same cannot be said for many other SEC teams.

So they put 2, 3 or 4 patsy teams in the schedule? Seems they intentionally avoid the best to pad their stats.

That's correct. Many teams do just what you're saying. For example, this year TN had Syracuse, ETSU, UAB, and New Mexico St. Only one of those opponents even plays in a Power 5 conference and it just so happens to be the weakest P5 conference. They were padding the W column. 😬

Now now…those living in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones . Alabama had powerhouses like Louisiana Monroe and Eastern Illinois. In 2024 those powerhouses included Western Kentucky, South Florida, and Mercer. 😜

While that is accurate for 2024, Alabama has the trophy case to tell the rest of the story—TN not so much. 🤗

My point exactly. They should replace those easy Ws with tougher teams from other conferences. As I said, if you want to be the best play the best. They're afraid of losing more than they want to win.

That's what the playoff is for. If your team is beat to pieces prior to getting there due to a grueling schedule, it was all for nothing. The committee has not consistently shown that they value strength of schedule as much as wins/losses. Follow the money….

You mean all wins and losses are not equal?
