Eli couldn't bring himself say "the kick is good" :D

He did finally compose himself to throw out that the league would be getting $250k for a fine for the fans storming the field.

I don't know how to post twatter links, but I watched the one that's a view of the camera on Eli in the press box during the kick. It's priceless in my opinion.🤭🤪

All team commentators have biases, why should Eli act any differently? I don't think whoever Notre Dames commentator is would jump up and cheer if ND lost in a last second field goal.
THIS! I would have probably said something like Congrats . You just earned a spot at the Fiesta Bowl. They ain't winning a Natty.

I've never heard another announcer go completely silent either.

Lots of teams have been upset, majorly upset (think GA ST), but their announcers at least "announce" what is going on (i.e. result of the kick/game in this case).

The attention this is getting is because the announcers of upset teams never have anywhere near such a long dead air pause on live radio, maybe a slight pause. But never such an awkward long silence and then to go straight into the diatribe about the fine for rushing the field. Never actually mentioning the result of the kick and outcome of the game. Not even a congrats to the other team, that just screams sore losers. That's just what makes it funny to most folks.

In the long run this loss is probably for the best. It'll bring them back down to earth and reality and cause them (coaches and players) to refocus. It never does anyone in any sport to never lose.

John Ward, heck even Bob Kesling, would have called the kick good.

They are RADIO ANNOUNCERS :D !

I still love the color guy slowly looking over at him with that, "uh we're still on the air" look.

And then the pompous drivel about A&M getting fined, like that somehow soothed his wounds.

But, go ahead and take up for him, because it is expected.

Well, there actually wasn't silence. Anyone listening could hear the crowd noise :D !

Game is at A&M, kick is up and the crowd goes wild.

He didn't need to say anything, everyone already knew it was good.

The SEC fined them $100K; team donors have probably already pledged 20 times that much.

A&M wins there, too! 👍

You know, I'm going to take him at his word, and give him a pass!

I said to myself, 'You know what? Just let the crowd tell the story.'

"And I think the fans would understand if they heard crickets or nothing, then I was gonna jump right in, but if they heard that massive roar, they would've known the Aggies would've kicked the game-winning field goal."

BS. He was being a little female dog. But, who cares? His audience would make excuses for anything he does. Just like when Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones were arrested with drugs and a stolen gun and weren't suspended for any game time. Or when Nick Satan took Jonathan Taylor in after Georgia kicked him off the team for strangling and beating up his girlfriend, and was charged with felony aggravated assault. And that was after Taylor was charged with fraud for cashing student stipend checks twice. Let's just be honest: the majority of this fan base would defend a serial killer being put in at QB if he could ball.

And neither is Alabama! 🤣 🤣
That's what everyone was saying in 2015 when ALABAMA lost to Ole Miss in the third game of the season. That ALABAMA was done, they were weak on Offense..The Dynasty was done. Matter of fact they been saying that every year. Keep saying it. Fact is ALABAMA is balls deep on both sides of the ball. Our offense is young and we have a rookie QB that will be a Heisman trophy winner before he graduates. No doubt in my mind about that.

So we will see how the rest of the year plays out and revisit this thread at some point :)

You didn't happen to be a Bulls fan and Cowboys fan in the 90's did you?
