Whats the best way to start a new salt lick sight? What do you all look for and what do you all use? I have made a few salt lick, but I want to get more opinions. Got any pointers?

I like to use Trophy Rock or plain old salt blocks. I usually look for a stump to put them on because they will last longer being off the ground. I just put them in areas that deer travel or congregate like in the woods around food plots. I also look for a good camera tree nearby where the cam wont be facing the sun. I also like a flat spot. On steeper ground your salty runoff can run over the hill and cause the deer to lick around on a wide area.

Along a main trail to a feeding area (like a food plot or overgrown field) and within 50 yards of the feeding area.

When a stump is not handy, I always place a big rock under the salt block to keep it out of water when (if) it rains.
