Sako 85

Anybody have one? If so, how does it compare to others.

They are pricey, but not all that much more than most guns these days.

Any dealers within say 200 miles? I sure would like to handle the 85 up close. I doubt I will get one, but it is a very tempting set up. If I ever wear the barrel out in my 7 mag A bolt, I think I will replace it with a Sako.

Hard to figure out who carries Sakos, especially the 85. I have not seen one anywhere in middle TN.

I bought an 85 Bavarian in 300 win mag through gunbroker. They've always got a few on there so check it out. It's a nice rifle...oil finish walnut. I have a scope for it but have not mounted it yet, so I have not shot it.

The walnut is nice, but not the highest grade for sure. I would rather spend a few hundred more and have presentation grade stock, but that's not available in the sako to my knowledge.

Can't say for middle TN but...

Benton Shooters might have one have seen Sakos the few times I ve been in there been a while though. As might Gander MTN in west knoxille they to have had a few Sakos on the racks.

I have the older Sako 75 in .260 and it is without a doubt the slickest feeding/extracting factory action that I have. Matter of fact, it rivals my Surgeon and Borden actions which were quite a bit more.

You can't go wrong with a Sako. Especially when higher end Remingtons are closely approaching $1K.

If there was any negative, it is that I'm not a fan of their scope mounting system but it does work.

....there are also other cheaper and better options to that end, such as talley and leupold.
