I work with a guy that has missed two deer already. Thats not the bad part, its his methods or lack there of. I'm not sure if he shot HIS bow any before season or not. Then when season opens, he lets his son use HIS bow and takes his sons bow out opening weekend. Misses a deer and says can't beleive that the release went off when he barely touched the trigger (never shot that release before). Then missed another deer yesterday. Said he hadn't shot that bow much (twice now). Said it must need a peep sight! Anyway said today that when he got home he was taking the sights off of that bow and putting them on another bow and heading out. Not gonna shoot it until a deer comes by.
Only good thing is he is missing and not wounding the deer. I know that anyone can miss, but you owe it the animal to make the best effort in preparation. At least be familar with the equipment and practice shooting it. Another family member missed on opening day with a bow he had never shot before too. Imagine that.
 
Poke and hope arrow flingers like him don't even need to be out there until they can become proficient with a bow well before heading out in the woods .
 
Too bad there are people like him shooting at game.
He is not the only one.

I can top your guy.

I know a guy who ever shot a bow in his life, went and bought one at Bass Pro on Friday,and hunted with it on Saturday moorning.
He could hardly draw it back, and was actually hunting with field tips!
 
Should have a discussion with him on respect for the animal he's pursuing. Show a target of a deer outlining the kill zone, point out that the cripple/wound/suffer zone is much larger, and with what he's doing, that's what he's aiming to hit.

I've met folks like that who seem to think their arrows are poison-tipped, and a scratch means instant death.
 
Did either of you guys try to set the record straight with the two wanna be's ? I would have told them both to stay out of the woods until they can do it right .
And one more thing , it is not only unethical to use field points for deer it is illegal !!! :mad:
 
I knew hunting with field tips was stupid, didn't know it was illegal.

I shoot a Drenalin with Grimm Reaper Razor cuts through a QAD rest. It rips huge holes.
All I need now is a deer to shoot it at.
