Locking to get all purpose compact – compactish 9mm 3" to 4" barrel. S&W or Glock, Is one better than the other.
S&W is better. 🤣 The Shield 40 is my choice for small compact. I'd already have the Shield Plus, but S&W decided I didn't need that gun in 40S&W. If you are good with 9mm, I'd check that out. I may be wrong, but I think the Shields are being made in Tennessee now.

Fan of Glock 19 clones here, PSA daggers are cheaper and have a good feel to my hands. Bought my wife a shield 9 years ago, good gun, has a thumb safety. Glocks and clones have no thumb safety. Wouldn't hesitate on either, just your preference.

Just looked at those. I try not to buy foreign made, so I don't have interest in a Glock, but those look interesting. S&W took a lot of heat when claims were made they were coping a Glock, even when they weren't. Those appear to be marketed as a copy of a Glock. Did Glocks patent run out or something?

They only problem I see with them is that they are only offered in a ladies caliber. I'll have to let my daughter know.

Don't know about Glock patents. There are a lot of clones out there.

Op was asking about 9 mm, but you can run a .40 or a .357 sig by changing the slide. Most Glock clones can also be bought as just the frame, so you can get the slide you want.

Ladies calibers will keel!

I have both and like both, but have been eyeballing PSA's Dagger offerings, I have seen, and heard decent reviews on them and they are inexpensive compared to those two. This one is just $439 right now, with some just over $300.

Comes with 10 mags.
Be hard to buy one without holding it.

Looks like the grip is to thick, thicker grips than a Glock. Glock grip is as large as I can go.

Between those two, the S&W M&P fits my hand better than the Glocks do. I've got several of both, plus some others but I am slowly downsizing the Glocks, HKs, Sig 320s, etc...and will end up with M&Ps for the various roles the others currently play.

The Sig 365 is my go-to for carry in various sizes from the original to the 365 X-Macro Tacops...and the Sig 365 Fuse will be my next purchase.

Offered in 40 cal. SDVE40--identical to the 9. I have one for my EDC.
