Look for grain rye, or cereal rye. just NOT rye grass. Elbon was what I bought.

Exactly. "Winter grazer" or "grain rye" is a cereal grain, like wheat and oats. Ryegrass is a grass.

I use grain rye in soil that has recently been broken for the first time. It will almost grow on concrete. It will also produce more tonnage of plant material that can be disked back into the soil come spring (it will grow 4 feet tall). Wheat and oats are more attractive to deer, but they require better soil to be productive.

If soil has been limed and fertilized, go with wheat or oats (or a mixture). If the ground has not been limed or fertilized, use grain rye.
