Rye Grass

On our food plots this year we used some blends that had rye grass in them. It is up and doing well (no suprise). Will it attract deer? What is the nutrional value?

Also rest of blend was clover and it is growing well with rye grass.

I'm not a fan of ryegrass at all. It is somewhat attractive and nutritious when it first germinates, but rapidly loses both values as it matures. In addition, if it is perennial ryegrss, it can be virtually impossible to get rid of.

I agree on the rygrass for food plots. However, how do y'all feel about it for a cover crop on logging roads to keep them from washing? I am thinking of planing it on some of mine to help hold the soil.

Ryegrass works well for holding logging (reducing erosion). But I don't want perennial ryegrass anywhere near my place! It has a bad habitat of spreading.
