Rut Timing: Weakley, Henry & Benton Co.

How about it guys? Give me some dates please.

My good buddy has again invited me to hunt on his properties in Weakley, Henry and Benton Counties.

If you know those areas, when would be the best times to hunt? He says I am welcome anytime.

Anytime starting muzzeloader through end of november .. Pre rut to chasing to actual bucks being seen locked up with doe is what iv seen in west tn

I usually have best luck 2nd-3rd week of November. I hunt right on the Henry/Weakley border.

With this info, I think I will try to be there opening MZL weekend, the 8-9th. Then a long weekend of Thurs 13th thru Sunday 16th and then Thanksgiving evening thru Sunday night.

Now I just have to make sure Momma is OK with all that hunting! :grin:

Last year was one of the worst ruts I can ever recall, and I really don't have anything to put my finger on as to why.

Last year the rut was in October after dark. Only the ugly ones were bred later in the year. I saw exactly one doe being chased by a skinny candy-cane forkie.

Opening week of muzzy for me in Weakley ! I never miss it and usually kill my best buck that week.

You should time the rut just right for them days. I know you'll be busy with hunting but if you get a free hour or two hit me up.

Shucks, gimme a 1/2 serious chase and I'd be tickled. Never seen anything like it last year in our neck of the woods...dead as an anvil.

I'm not seeing the early timing I saw last year. All of the camera "timing" clues I use follow are displaying patterns far closer to normal than last year. Last year all of the timing cues occurred 10-14 days earlier than normal.
