Rut is on in Nashville!

I've been watching this 3 1/2+ year-old buck chase an estrus doe through my and my neighbors' yards in Bellevue (western suburb of Nashville) all morning long. I've been able to get quite close to him. I've even grunted at him and he will grunt right back. When the doe lays down, he will lay down not far from her. When she gets up and moves, he's right behind her. I can't count the number of times they've jumped these chain-link fences separating yards, and they do so like the fences aren't even there.

Cool, and its also starting here! I thought it would be a few more days, but after yesterdays events it was proven to me that even the fully mature bucks are on now on their feet most all day long!

They're still out there. The doe is lying down under the cedar tree in front of the buck. You can just see her rear-end (dark shadow next to the large tree-trunk) on the far left of this image:

cool deal, yes the rut is starting down here in williamson too, had 2 young bucks roaming on monday morning and then a big buck come in after 3 does grunting the whole way, I shot him, when you get a chance can you guess the age? Pics are in a separate thread in this forum

I think I would be more successful if I did it that way!

Now that truth. That is one of the bucks BSK has to start his deer farming operation. He keeps his does in a seperate pen to collect the urine and sell to Tinks.

I saw some young ones chasing up in Macon Co last week, I'm just waiting for the big ones to start. I thought yesterday might be the day, with the number of muzzle loaders I heard go off after dawn broke.

Saw a good sized buck RUNNING through my subdivision in Brentwood at 3:00 this afternoon when I walked outside to check the mail ... he came from neighbor's yard, crossed the street, and kept running through the yard of my neighbor across the street where there is some common-area (and woods) behind his house ... saw him just for a few seconds (actually heard the clops of his hooves on the pavement, which made me look in that direction). Didn't see if he was chasing after a doe, but he was definitely in a hurry to get somewhere fast!

There's enough.

My observations have been pretty well in line with everyone else. I get around Nashville a lot for work and bucks are definitely on the move.

In Humphreys County, lots of seeking and scrape-working but no chasing yet.

My wife saw a buck tailing a doe out of Percy Warner and across Chickering Rd in Belle Meade this afternoon.

I just got back from 3 days of hunting in Henry County. Saw plenty of fresh rubs and scrapes, but little movement and zero chasing.
