Rust on a Stainless Stalker

I found some rust on the bottom of my barrel today. Its not bad just a few needle point size areas. I have a browning SS and clean it every time I get done shooting it. The rust is on the barrel as the barrel exists the stock. Is there a way to get rid of it?

I would say if you spray some Rem Oil or something similar and let it sit there a few hours and scrub it off you can get it off. Might need to repeat the process. Then make sure when you store the gun it is stored at under 50% humidity and wouldn't hurt to store it in a gun sock that holds out moisture also.

I bought me a little sensor that stays in my safe and gives me the humidity reading at all times.

I read that rust can't form under 50% humidity. Not sure how true that is though.

Take it out of the stock and inspect for further rust under the barrel,unless you already have.

Then as Stik siad some steel wool and a some good gun oil.Fine to extra fine on the steel wool,imo.

Seems like somebody on here said they used a pencil eraser. That might just be on blued guns tho

x-2.....i use 000....Polishes right off, including small marred places and other imperfections......

I used 0000 wool and it took care of a couple spots. Camoman will 000 ruin the finish?

000 shouldn't hurt the finsh just don'use as much pressure when rubbing with it,more will depend on how deep the rust is.More an issiue with a blued gun than stainless but still possible to leave a spot of differrent color.

BTW Stainless needs to be wiped downed and treated as all other firearms,one just have more time with a stainless. ;)
