My ruger red label is doubling. Firing both barrels at once.
Does it with all high brass and about half the time with low brass. I thought it may have been me but I had two other guys shoot it and it doubled with all of us. Anyone got any ideas why?

Re: Ruger red label is doubling

My o/u was doing the same thing. After a bit of examination I determined it was probably the shooter. The first trigger pull has to be a LOT less forceful. I was in the habit of pulling the trigger and keeping it pulled. This is what happens when your other shottie is an 11-87, you develop bad habits.

As an opinion, see if you can adjust the trigger pull to one that requires more force. And you may want to clean the trigger assembly first.

Just put one shell in it, problem fixed. :rotf:

Re: Ruger red label is doubling

Yep, a single shot o/u. Generally when I am shooting I could have a 20-round auto and still miss every dove and duck so a single is just an easy way to save shells.

Serious, I have shells over 20 years old because I figured why waste them. Maybe lightning will strike and I will get to the pre-novice level.

Have killed more Dove with my BB gun than with my 1100 or 11-87 combined.

I can call & kill geese. Actually doubled on purpose.

Re: Ruger red label is doubling

Just wanted to give update. Sent gun back to ruger to see what problem was. They replaced the sears. Also said the stock had a crack in it where it butted up to receiver.. They replaced the stock and touched up a few spots of blueing. That is awsome customer service. My cost was shipping one way. They never asked for a penny. Just fixed it and sent it back. Thanks ruger.

Good to hear!

I had the same problem. Sent the gun back to Ruger and got the same results you did. Excellent customer service.
