Anyone have on of these rifles? Pros and Cons?

I just received a LEFT-HANDED (finally!) Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 308 for Xmas. I'm very excited. I can't wait to get it scoped and test firing.
 
Yep, I've been looking for a good wrong-handed gun for ages!

Can't wait to shoot it.

Now I'm looking at scopes... ;)
 
Way to go BSK. They are the best pure hunting rifles out there in an over the counter rifle. We bought a .308 walnut/blue one for my oldest boy last Christmas. It is a beautiful rifle, shoots well(haven't wrung it out-whitetails are big), functions fine, and is all steel and wood-even the floorplate is steel now. Congrats-ought to last 2-3 lifetimes. I've always wanted a 308. Can't wait to start running through all the different loads/brands of 308 ammo.
 
BSK, I am glad for you. You got a good one, the 308 along with the 7/08 you have will do you for the rest of your life. Fine guns.
 
In a factory gun, the Hawkeye is the way to fly right now. Congrats on the 308 BSK. Fusion ammo is a good place to start b/c its relatively inexpensive and typically shoots good out of most everything.

Thanks Panther78. The gift was totally unexpected. I had been talking at great length with a brother-in-law about how I couldn't find a lefty bolt-gun in 7mm-08 or 308 (my two preferred calibers). He started looking around and found what I had--lots of companies supposedly make lefty guns, but NOBODY stocks them. A dealer finally called from Michigan and said he had this Ruger in stock but had several people who would take it in a heartbeat, so my brother-in-law felt he better grab it while he could. He's been holding on to it for months waiting for Xmas!

I just got one in 358 Win. I topped it off with a Zeiss 2.5-8 and sent the medium rings back to Ruger for a set of low rings for it. I love the outfit, I have only worked up 1 load for it since I got it right b4 gun season, but it shoots just a hair over MOA, and I have only tried 1 powder and 1 bullet so far. I am very pleased with my purchase.

That would be a gooden but think you might like the CDL SF Liminted better.

I have one in .280 cal and I have to say it is one of the sweetest handling and shooting rifles I have shot!
I think you will be very happy with it! Good caliber too!
 
I have been fond of the M77 since it was first introduced.. i love my 2 like no other rifle i have ever shot.They have taken many a deer from lots of yards away.in the worst weather we have south of the great lakes.
 
I do not own a Hawkeye but I do own a M77 in 30/06 and I can say that it has only let me down one time. And that time was all my fault. Mine loves the Winchesters in the silver box. Im talkin about blowin a hole through both sides massive blood trail every time. The Winchesters have been true every shot fired so you might wanna add them to your "to try" list. Oh, I try really hard to keep all my guns looking good and operating good but sometimes you just cant help it. Well I was hunting one really cold morning in a ladder stand that probably wasnt any more than 10'. It was positioned right next to a barbed wire fence. I got cold so I decided to leave Long story short I ended up on the ground and my Ruger ended up hanging from one of the steel fence posts by the sling. Needless to say the stock could use refinishing. I fired it afterwards and it still held zero.
