Rub line

Already found a rub line and the tres were shredded, my question is all the bucks I have on the property are still in velvet and ain't it early to be seeing rubs? Any info appreciated, thanks!

Generally speaking, the older bucks will start the process earliest. You could have a mature buck nearby that you haven't gotten on camera. Smart bucks can stay out of the limelight.

It is early IMO, but that would only serve to raise my level of excitement about the possibility of an exceptional buck in the area. ;) I would normally not be too excited over a rub line, but a rub line this early would warrant my attention and time to hunt the area as early as possible. Good luck with him!

I've seen very few rubs at the end of August but have seen them. Nothing to get excited about in terms of rub size but have heard older deer start earlier.

Looks like someone took a blade and just ran it up and down that cedar, it was literally rubbed where strips of bark came off

It's hard to tell from those pics but the bark looks peeled off rather than rubbed off. You sure it's from a deer and fresh?

I've never heard of a mountain lion, bear in our parts at all, not even in the county, and yeah it was very fresh and wasn't there the week before

Looks like cedar trees losing their bark. Usually means the tree is dying. I don't think it's rubs

I'll try to get better pictures but I've never seen a tree lose bark like these trees were rubbed, it wasnt like they had just lost bark. The last one on the line was shredded. I've never seen a tree have shavings on the ground beside it except if it had been rubbed but maybe I'm wrong

So you think it is a deer? Some ppl thought it might have been another animal but all other bucks I got on camera still have velvet on. Did get a picture of sn 8 that I've never got a picture of yet so maybe there's another one out there

Never seen a bear here or got one on camera, nor heard of one. Just didnt know why it's so early
