Been watching YouTube videos of mock scrapes and how to use a vine or rope as a facial rub!Anyone use these or is just a waste of time!Ive made mock scrapes before but never the vine or rope,what say you!

A natural vine works amazingly well. The rope has not shown any promise for me. Deer are curious and sniff it when new but soon ignore it. I'm currently trying hemp, cotton, and the hemp one sold in the jug marketed for deer. I started all in summer and they get flat out ignored. In fact I used one on an existing scrape and they quit using it. On my properties the ropes are a gimmick. Vines on the other hand have worked very, very well for many, many years.

Just make your mock scrape in the right area under a good licking limb and it will take care of itself!
I cut them about 5ft long and move them where I want. A lot of really good spots for scrapes don't have a real good scrape tree/branch so there's no scrape. In spots like that when I make a scrape it gets hit immediately, sometimes same day.
I also make mock scrapes in front of most of my stands. Not only does it distract the deer for a moment but I also know exactly how far it is. Every permanent or semi permanent stand site has a mock scrape and camera.

I'm gonna cut me 2 or 3 vines and try them and make several scrapes close to all my stands.Ski,most of the vine scrapes are hung by a piece of rope, do you just try to pull down a overhanging branch to tie your vine to.It would be helpful to use a ladder but more trouble.
I do whatever it takes. Sometimes it takes thinking outside the box. If I have a branch overhead to tie to then that's what I do. If it's too high to reach i tie a heavy stick to the paracord and throw it up over the branch, then use a loop knot to pull it tight. Cut the string at right length and tie the vine to it.
If there's no overhead branch but a big tree close enough I screw a flagpole mount to it and stick an oak branch in it and hang the vine from the branch.
If there are some tall saplings like in a thicket I pull a couple over far enough to tie them together, making a high archway. I hang the vine from the arch.
And in certain situations I put a cedar post in the ground to attach a branch to. Not a method I'd use for just experimenting but in just the right location they double as a signpost rub.
I'll be home in a couple days and will dig up some pics of some of the scrapes I've made that work well.
I'm always interested in seeing what works and what doesn't.

I agree with others vine works great. Sometimes I cut one sometimes I find one they are already using and set up a camera on it.
How low do you usually hang them?
Are you dipping the ends of the vines in one of the commercial scents?

No scents on mine, i ran with and without, the ones i used scent on they didn't touch until spring
