Rockfishin's last Hoorah

Well, it looks as though the stripers are finally starting to move on to somewhere else in the river. I made what very well could be my last trip of the season on Friday. The fishing has slowed considerably with only two fish landed and the largest was the one you see here at 18 lbs. The other was about 12 (I didn't weigh the smaller one). Anyway, the Rockfish entertained me from early summer till almost all the way to bow season......I would say that is pretty decent. I may post up a Rock fishing season recap later with a lot of pics. Time now to move on to hunting..

Nice fish. A couple of my areas that are usually loaded during the summer had very few fish this year. However for the last week they have been stacked like sardines.

Nice fish! You had a great a year with some VERY nice fish. I caught more numbers this year but missed my 30lb fish goal by 2lbs (that's ok, I'll get it next year). I always looked forward to your pics and reports so if you would, RECAP PLEASE!

Do you keep them that big or are you catch and release only?

I only kept one fish all summer. It was a small 8-10lb fish. I filleted it, cut out the red streak and grilled it like salmon. It was delicious! Very mild flavored. I would have kept more, I was just to lazy to mess with them. It was too easy to slip em back in the water and say so long.
