Anyone been there lately and how's the bite? I was out there yesterday in the morning and evening below the spillway. Used live skipjack and zoom super flukes. Will the rockfish be up against the spills with water being this low? No generation in the past couple weeks. Is the lock a good place to concentrate when they are letting water out? Yesterday there were herds of pleasure boats and yachts coming out of the lock all day long probably to see fireworks downstream. Just wondering if anyone has done any catching down there lately because I haven't figgered it out yet. There were several boats fishing for rockfish throughout the day but I couldn't tell if any fish were caught.

No generation = no rockfish

You can still get lucky and hook up but its by far much harder without generation....

Maybe so but if its anything like Cordell hull, the spill way is churning a lot of water. If it is I would bet they will be close by

Never fished Cordell hull but hear great things about it and hope to one day. The spill way does not churn much water in my experiences there. As of now unless something is coming through the lock it is virtually dead. I'm not saying you can't catch one just saying your going to fish hard to catch that ONE right now...

Seems they are spilling a good bit right now, all 6 gates open. But then maybe it's not much compared to Cordell Hull or some other spillway. I can't say..

If they are draining the lock, should I be fishing right in that rough water, next to the lock, or below the lock? On july 4 there were boats coming through the lock all day but I did not fish there.

It gets pretty rough where they let that water out suddenly I would stay on the outskirts and cast into it unless you got one steady boat.

no I have seen it and it would likely swamp my boat. I'll get to casting distance though if there are no eddies that pull me into it.
