If it's national forest and not a park, it should be open.

Its a national forestry and they staff the ranger stations. Trying to get a definitive answer before I drive 7 hours to find it closed.
It did say if you had a reservation they'd email you if it was canceled. Tough position to be in.
 
Personally, I've never seen a campground closed due to a gov. shutdown in CNF and I'm there a lot (live 20 minutes away) but unless you have a reservation, sites are first come first served and if you do have a reservation, it might not be honored if nobody is working to save it. As stated above, tough call. Don't know what type of camping you're doing, tent/camper, but there are tons of dispersed camping sites where you can basically pull off the side of the road to camp. At least in south Cherokee.

I have a reservation so if its open I can promise that I will get my site of someone is on it. Should be interesting over the next few days what happens.
