If it's national forest and not a park, it should be open.
I'm assuming since he's calling he's trying to make or cancel a reservation since this campground is one that's staffed and requires reservations. The way I read that ^ is that the offices are closed.
I didn't know there was such a thing as a staffed campground in CNF? Sounds more like a state park.I'm assuming since he's calling he's trying to make or cancel a reservation since this campground is one that's staffed and requires reservations.
Its a national forestry and they staff the ranger stations. Trying to get a definitive answer before I drive 7 hours to find it closed.I didn't know there was such a thing as a staffed campground in CNF? Sounds more like a state park.![]()
It did say if you had a reservation they'd email you if it was canceled. Tough position to be in.Its a national forestry and they staff the ranger stations. Trying to get a definitive answer before I drive 7 hours to find it closed.
I have a reservation so if its open I can promise that I will get my site of someone is on it. Should be interesting over the next few days what happens.Personally, I've never seen a campground closed due to a gov. shutdown in CNF and I'm there a lot (live 20 minutes away) but unless you have a reservation, sites are first come first served and if you do have a reservation, it might not be honored if nobody is working to save it. As stated above, tough call. Don't know what type of camping you're doing, tent/camper, but there are tons of dispersed camping sites where you can basically pull off the side of the road to camp. At least in south Cherokee.
Good luck.I have a reservation so if its open I can promise that I will get my site of someone is on it. Should be interesting over the next few days what happens.
My kid goes to college close to the area.On another note (insert thread hijack here) why would someone from Indiana want to drive seven hours to come camp in CNF?
Bring your rifle and if you get locked out head down to South Cherokee for the weekend. Bear's open.My kid goes to college close to the area.
