I love my Savage Axis II in 308. It was my 30th birthday present from my wife and I've killed all of my deer with it. Its been good to me.

I absolutely love my current deer rifle, a TC Venture in 7mm-08 with a Trijicon Accupower 3-9x40. Handles well, recoil is mild, shoots great and the caliber is a deer killer. All of my kills have been with handloaded ammo, starting with my first rifle, a Remington 700 in .308 to the current rifle. That adds to my enjoyment as well.

What I love the most is that vast differences in what hunters consider their favorite rifle/caliber/load/scope/whatever equipment. There are so many different ways to skin this cat we call deer hunting.

I agree with REM 270... I bought my youngest son a Remington Model 7 in a 7mm O8 for Christmas and on these cold days I've been taking it just because it's easy to handle. Killed my first buck in the season last week and also a pig and have fallen in love with that gun. I'm seriously thinking about getting one for myself. My gun is a Winchester model 70 30-06 lightweight. It has been a fine gun but that little model 7 is like carrying a pellet rifle and the 7mm 08 has really impressed me.

Been wanting a tactical .308 for a few years now. Finally found one I really liked in the classifieds on TnDeer. Haven't shot a deer with it yet but mounted a scope and put a box down the barrel. Like the heck out of it.

Probably would have to be my trusty old Marlin 45-70 for the thick stuff I hunt here in the East. Usually no tracking needed and if so major blood trial, minimum meat damage and can shoot through thick brush without deflecting bullet.

Love my 7mmstw. Flat and kills them quickly. Just got a 26 nosler, shoots just as flat and time will tell what I think about it
