When riding in the cooler months do any of you wear thermals or anything else under your jeans and chaps? I am thinking about my bottom getting cold.
 
I rode New Years Day this year, it was about 38 degrees when I left my house. I wore insulated jeans and then layered up top with Under armour a sweatshirt and my riding jacket. I also have a neck gaiter made by Frank Thomas, it's call anti freeze or something like that. I stayed very comfortable even at 70mph on the interstate.
 
I wear something like underarmour, from Wally, I think its a rememington poduct. And I wear a hoody under my leather jacket. gloves and thats about it, open face helmet, just becouse the fairing pushes mose of the wind of my face.
 
At 38 degrees i am still riding the same as i ever do..At 30 degrees then the chaps go on and the leather jacket comes out.. 25 degrees then the long johns are next in line along with leathers..also turn the electric hand warmers on..10 degrees then the helmet comes out along with a electric vest under the leathers..Coldest i have ever rode in was 7 degrees on New years day once...but as long as there is no snow on ground i will ride..Many times have left Pa. for Daytona Bike Week when it was snowing.. They actually go really well in 4-5 inches of the white stuff!!
 
Probably just dumber then you!! I live in Pa. and work construction and am outside most the year..so i temper my body to the cold.. i never ever put Long Johns on and wait as long as i can to even put a sweat shirt on..at work i very seldom wear more then a sweatshirt all winter long..

I ride all weather and add thermals at around 40 and electric gloves at around 35 and below. I get the leather out at the same time and a fleece gator block the wind at my neck, thats the worst for me!! If it gets below 20 I will put on the one piece insulated coveralls!
 
I put my leather jacket on below 70*, more for protection than warmth though. Just too hot to wear it above 75. Add a fleece underneath if it gets much colder.
I used to have an Aerostich suit back when I did track days and 500 mile touring days when I lived out west. That thing was great from 20's up to 80's depending on what you wore underneath and how you configure the vents, but they're really expensive. Sold mine with my VFR750 a few years ago...wish I had kept the suit.
 
I have an old set of hunting coveralls that I use. I ride to work every day rain, shine, or cold...except ice. My coldest so far was 16. Had a chance for single digits but the wife put her foot down. If it gets below 30 my fingers are numb by the time I get home! I need to get electric gloves.

My best ride was two weeks ago - Took a ride to Cades Cove. We went into Rockford and took the back roads to Townsend, ate then rode the cove. It was AWESOME!
 
Gloves are the neccessity for me in the cold. I can take the cold on the body, but my hands start freezing and I get miserable.

The next time you got to rockford on the old knoxville hwy, be sure to stop and eat at "Sweet Peas"..They are at a small marina at stock creek. Its is right beside the road, you can't miss it. .They have great bbq and the best side I have eatin! Thier greens are the best!...

Know right where that is...grew up there in Rockford, watched that place be many places.
