How in the CRAP does a bearing buddy come out ????

A few weeks ago we left the lake and I noticed the one on the drivers side was gone.
Bought two more and put it back in and filled it up with grease.

Mind you I have to put them in with a hammer. I use a plastic ended one.

Today we left the lake and the other side was gone. :eek:

After we got home man's friend saw something in the street and sure enough, there it was. Didn't get 50 feet before it fell out.

I just don't see how they can come out like that????
 
Let me guess, the bearing fell out the same day some punk knocked your mailbox over... :D

Either you hit something, the bearing buddy is the wrong size, or you are somehow over pressurizing it.

Try cleaning all the grease off the inside of the bearing where the buddy seats and off the buddy itself.

OR you could use a bigger hammer!!! :D
 
I had some I had to put some shim stock around and drive them in to keep them in one time. The hub was just a little oversized and with the grease and pressure they would pop out.

Take a center punch and hammer and peen the inside of the hub in a few places where the cap goes in. Should do the trick.
 
May have figured out another possible cause.

When I put it back in yesterday I noticed my wheel moved a little.

Brand new bearings and stuff and I never did go back and check them.
I turned the castle nut several times on each hub.
Might have been vibrating a bit and causing it to back out.
