Rice field rolling question

Not real sure if this will make sense but...……..

When they roll a rice field, how much does the dirt "compress" ?
Like, how much deeper would the water be?

Hmmm thanks man.
Oh I know it will lock up, just a matter of when.
What concerns me is the guys went last weekend and the field isn't even full yet and the pit is taking on water.
I am hoping the dry ground I saw in the pics they sent was just rice stubble and removing a board or two took care of the pit issue.

Was the wind blowing hard? It will push the water to one side if was. Weird how that works.

Going by the pics they sent there was no wind at all.
I had truck problems and didn't get to go last Saturday.

I was curious so I looked it up. It's broken into three zones, the north and middle are currently open and south opens on thanksgiving. The south zone opens for four days then closes for a week then open till end of January.

They roll the field to press the rice stubble into the ground so I don't think it would make much difference.
