I have a Rino 530 too & love it. Out here in the West, our timber is thinner with lots of openings, so it works great in almost any situation. Back in the south, the thick canopy was problematic last season, but I only used it one day. I think this problem would be inherit with all GPS's, and more so with cheaper ones. I agree with Carlos--the 530 is the way to go. The battery will last for days just using the GPS, weather radio, etc. My battery goes down a lot faster when I'm using the radio & tracking device to see others on the screen.

I've got a 530 coming :) Gonna use it in east tenn. and hope to get up to Catoosa this fall sometime. Can't wait to try it out. I have the 24k topo maps coming with it. Is that what you use?

Got it yesterday evening and got it fully charged. Plan to do some set-up on it this afternoon and plot my walking trail for practice. It's in heavy woods, so we'll see how it acquires satellites through the trees. I want the topo detail everywhere I go!!??

I got a pre-loaded mini SD card through GPS store that has all Tennessee, North Carolina,South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia on it. But, it's still in the box. Did you see much at Laurel Hill?

I am going to hunt that place until i get a good one myself! I love that area, not crazy about all of the open timber.

Rhino working good in thick woods. Just fine in east Tenn. mountains too. About to get it figured out. Now if I can talk my huntin' buddy into gettin' one...see you at Laurel Hill!!!

I had the old 110 and it still works fine, although I've upgraded to a 60csx. The radio on mine didn't work that good, but I'm sure they work fine on the newer models. I'm sure the partner tracking feature works good if you have somebody that has a rhino. I never used mine.
