Found deer sign everywhere. Fresh scrapes, droppings, tracks and jumped a shooter buck. I really didn't expect to find much sign after last year. Just FYI for anyone on the hunts this year.
 
You were in the thick of them then, glad you are keyed in on them. I've been fighting sinuses all week and feel like walking death, but still put in a whole day yesterday. Probably walked 5 miles total at all the different spots I checked and found limited sign. When I did find acorns, the ground was hammered, trampled down flat. Found maybe 8 scrapes that appeared to be by dinks. Finally located a nice buck and think I have the first pieces of the puzzle, will just have to wait and see. You have the 1st or 2nd hunt?
 
I had about 4 hours to scout out there yesterday in zone 2. The acorns were very thick where i walked. Like walking on marbles in certain places. Prob logged 3 miles or so. Found lots of rubs but did not run across any scrapes unfortunately. i had a few other spots i wanted to check out but i just didn't have the time.
 
I'd like to meet somebody there that's experienced with the area I've never been there but drawn the last few years and seen limited deer so I'll be up north in Ohio this go around

I'm on the gun hunt next weekend as well like you said sign everywhere and the acorns are thick! Hope it's a good hunt

Best of luck this weekend. I have the last hunt in the shotgun/ml zone. I'll be using my scout day to check on a couple places I've hunted in the the past.
 
i have seen pretty good sign.Rubs all over the place and good acorns.So we will see.I found a good spot on the topo.But went in and somebody had hung a drip bag over a mock scrape.Looked to be right next to a real scrape.Also had camera up.So i backed out of there and tried to come from the back side.But sure enough ran into some nice guys that were hunting in that very spot.they gave us an idea of a spot.we went there and liked it.we'll see what happens nov 9th and 10th archery hunt.I'd rather have the gun but got picked for archery.

Hey DRSJ35 I believe we were the ones you ran into that told you where to go was driving a blue Chevy truck if so I Hope y'all score big on your hunt we are on that hunt also good luck

Does anyone know if you can take a look at some of the areas that aren't behind the gates at anytime? Seems like some of the areas are considered greenways or something?
 
Haw ridge, bull bluff and poplar creek are areas you can walk in year round. Bull bluff is past the swimming hole in the Clark center park there is a yellow gate there for walk-in during off season good place to ride a bike done it many times during the summer and poplar creek walk-in is off 95/58 where the bridge crosses over the road most call it Gallagher road head east from 40 to Oakridge go under 95 bridge it's on the left there is a yellow gate there check map poplar creek is bow area and the other two if memory is correct are firearm areas any where pretty much is open around the Clark center park you can walk around/ hike, year round to a point. On the east end of Oakridge off 95 at the old guard shack is beginning of poplar creek that is also open and behind the K25 complex now ETTP complex off Blair rd is another year round walk-in area most of these places are setup for year round hiking. Pew I'll take a breath sorry for the long post hope this helps you there is probably something I've missed good luck

Believe correct about Haw Ridge, but no so sure about Bull Bluff Road.
For a fact, outside of the 1-day scouting and permitted hunt dates,
most of the area along Bull Bluff Road is totally off limits, period.
Driving down Bull Bluff Road (to Clark Center Park) is generally ok (if gate open).
 
Bull bluff is open to walk-in during off season for hiking been there many time great place to go during off season you may be right about going there now call the game warden there I think It still is Jim Evans great guy for information if you can contact him
 
Thanks for the update? Where do you find this info online? I can only see the entire years summary from their website.
 
They usually post it on the website after all hunts are done. At least in the past I believe that's how it's done. The info listed above is correct from what I heard this morning when I got to the plant. Really good hunt compared to the last 2 years

You can go to ORNL.gov and search hunting and all the info from last year back is there
