Remmy 700 tigger swap questions

With all the recall going on, I read many post on tndeer where most guys were going to swap the recall trigger out with a Timney


Just curious how many actually swapped them out. I am considering buying a 1.5-3.0 for a remmy tinker gun I am messing with.

I am also thinking of buying a couple more Timneys, but for other mfg guns..would also like to hear imput on Win 70 trigger replacements. I simply just dont want to drop the amount of $ on Jewels

They are worth the money and simple to install. Once you get the first one under your belt you'll buy a few more.

I swapped the X mark that was affected by the recall in my sons Model 7 out with a Timney. So much better! Almost a drop in. Had to dremel out just a little bit of stock for the safety to clear, but well worth it.

I went ahead and replaced my X-Mark trigger with a Timney. Total drop in. One of the easiest gunsmithing jobs you will ever do.
Save your receipt. Rumor is that Remington "may" reimburse you for a portion of an aftermarket trigger due to their backlogs getting so long.

That video does a pretty good job of explaining how to install it. However, I recommend that you drive the pins out from their pointed side (opposite side that he drives his from and you'll have to remove the rear pin first, then the front) and completely remove them, along with the bolt stop and spring. Take the time to clean the years of dried and tarnished gun oil from the bolt stop and the slot it rides in on the receiver. Reassemble in the opposite order that you took it apart, making sure that the longer pin is used on the rear hole (that's what the bolt stop and spring pivot on).

The biggest reason I recommend this way is because driving the pin through the receiver in the manner that he does, spreads the pin holes back out (they are punched on the far side so the pin is a press fit) and your pins will have a tendency to walk as you shoot the rifle.

I think I could swap a Rem 700 trigger blindfolded,,done a BUNCH,,make sure the safety is pulled back out from in front of the rear pin also,,

Did mine. Fairly simple after you get over your old trigger falling into pieces. Probably improved accuracy 100%

Bought all of mine on Ebay. Paid $125 each right after recall was announced and then bought another one on eBay 2 months ago for $105.

Cant' find any at that price.

I got mine at Brownell's about a month ago. Not sure of availability now as more and more people are opting to not wait on Remington.
