Best shotgun ever made in my opinion. But I don't know how to tell when they were made. Serial # I suppose?

According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values", the coding continues as follows:
Month Codes: [first letter]

As maybe seen, the year code letters duplicate; some knowledge of when the model was introduced should resolve the actual year of manufacture.

Ive got two Remingtons with serial numbers that dont start with letters, so I dont think that chart is correst for them all. You can call Remington and they will tell you date of manufacture. Had to do that with my 700 to find out when made so I could send it in under the recall program for the safety modification.

The letters will date the shotgun(barrel at least). They are barrel date codes and are located on the left side of the barrel above the wood line just in front of the receiver. It will be a 2 or 3 letter stamping. There will be some other proofmarks in the area also but after you look at a few you can figure out the meaningful letters. The letters repeat so you do have to know the rough era when the rifle or shotgun was made. PH
Send Remington an e-mail and they will tell you the month/year of manufacture.

Call Remington and they will tell you what year it was made. All they need is the serial number. I have done this in the past with Remington, Winchester and Marlin. I dont have their telephone number handy but their should be a (contact us) link on the website.
