Remington trigger unsafe??

Was reading on another forum where people have had remington triggers even the new x-marks fire when the rifle's safety was flipped into the off position. Has anyone ever had this happen? I own several remingtons, and I've never had it happen but it spooks me that the boys will be using them. In one case the guy said extreme cold(leaving it in his truck overnight produced and unintentional discharge when disengaging the safety, another said he never had a problem, then one day out of the blue BAM when he flipped the safety.

Any trigger can be set to light , only an experienced shooter should adjust triggers , leave it alone or take it to a gunsmith.

I agree Locksley, but some of the complaints are from triggers that have not been adjusted (allegedly).

As with any mechanical device there is a possibility of failure. With that being said I have owned many different Remington rifles over the years and have never had one misfire due to trigger malfunction. I currently own a SPS Tactical with an X-Mark Pro trigger. First thing I did was adjust the trigger to 2lbs. I think the X-Mark triggers are the best idea Remington had in a while.

I've got the x-mark on my 7mm-08, and I like it very much, I just wondered if anyone ever had any problems. I had a remington 700 muzzleloader discharge when i flipped the safety years ago I about crapped my pants I might add, but I'm not sure they used the same trigger group in those.

Frist Thanks for the info will have to check that out as I haven't heard of any issiues with the X Pro.

While I haven't personally had any of the "Famous" Remington Triggers Issiues myself I have been around and witness to a few rifles that did.

Haven't read all of it but the guy that started it put his finger were it didn't belong period. JMO

Unsafe as heck, I'd get rid of them if I were you. I'll give you $50 for each unsafe Remington you have. :grin:

I think people set the creep to close to the edge,,not the poundage,,the creep is where you run into trouble,,,

and some people have a habit of flippin the safety with thier finger on the trigger

that right there is the issue.... (Allegedly)... I can make one do it... let me adjust the trigger way to light or mess with the creep... I can also make it go off when I bounce hte gun on the floor... however, it has to be adjusted right..... an trigger improperly set can go off when it should not.

Although I agree that User/Owner Errors in adjusting as well as other areas play a big part of these famous tales not all are. IMO

[I can also make it go off when I bounce the gun on the floor.] That test is one of the best tests of your trigger work by tapping it on the floor hard but not hard enough to break the stock on it you can get an unsafe trigger to fire. NEVER PULL THE TRIGGER ON A GUN ON SAFE AND THEN SNAP THE SAFETY OFF REAL FAST . That is not how rifles are made to be used. Most flintlock rifles do not have safeties on them the safe is between the hunters ears . Never point a weapon in an unsafe direction when loading or unloading it. The first rule of gun safety.
