you better find one in person before you order one. I'm a huge remington fan, but they really missed the boat on this one. I hated it. All they are is a rounded reciever benelli nova! No similarities at all to the 870
The gun is mainly plastic, even the barrel and rib is plastic with a steel sleeve. Call me old fashioned, but I will stick to shotguns with steel and walnut.
I am an 870 fan so they will have to win me over on the 887. I can't see how it would be a better shotgun except for the weather protection. I'm an 870 armorer and a guy brought me a Benelli Nova to try to fix. He had it in a rack on the front of his 4-wheeler and somehow went in between two trees and broke the buttstock clean off right behind the reciever. There was no way to fix it and it was basically the same design of the 887 (composite over steel). I think they're trying to fix something that ain't broke.
