I have been looking at buying a new rifle and saw where academy sports is running a deal on the remington 770. I know the 770 is not in the same class as the 700 but can someone tell me if there has been any issues with the 770 model.

As far as a stock rifle, and not a custom, you can't go wrong with a 700. It's been around for a long time.

If you need an inexpensive rifle I would look at the Marlin XL-7, Stevens 200 or one of the Savages before I would consider the Rem 770. Before I did that I would look for a higher quality used gun for the same money you would spend on a new inexpensive rifle.
