I have a mint condition 7400 carbine in 30/06 , recently i was target shooting it and the trigger wouldn't reset ,it would fire , eject the round and chamber another but not reset trigger , it doesn't do this every time , from what I have found online others have had this problem also , something to do with the disconnector in the trigger assembly , can some explain ?

i had one in .308 years ago. i always had trouble with it jamming every other shot. i sent it back to the factory twice and finally traded it for a model 700

I removed the assembly and it's clean no dirt or trash at all

It only takes a very small amount of nonvisible crud to make them stick, I would clean it really good, blow it out with compressed air and lube the heck out of it with Rem Oil and give it another try.
You mentioned random problem, that leads me to believe worn or dirty parts.
Broken parts would be all the time problem

i will clean it again and try to get to the range to see if that helps as soon as weather and time permits , to be continued....
