Nice, I just bought a new Mossberg 835 and was actually considering a Carlsons among others. Looks like it throws a mean pattern out of that 11-87

I kinda hate to say it but I have the 535 with the Carlson's choke shooting #6 3.5'' longbeards and at 40 yards there is not a lot of difference in the pattern. I shot a couple of guns with the longbeards that day, 2 that are 3 inch guns and the 535 and this was the pattern I was most impressed with. I still like the 535 cause it is light and short but I like the pattern outta this gun.

Yeah my 535 throws a good pattern also, I have an Indian Creek on it and shoot the Longbeard 3" #5. Just had some extra money and wanted an upgrade. I have the 535 turkey thug and it only weighs 6.5 pounds, not sure about you but shooting 3.5" shells out of it is miserable. I shot two of them and dropped down to the 3". The 835 weighs 7.75 pounds which I am cool with. I am still only running 3" shells out of it. In my personal opinion I dont really need the 3.5"

Yes the 835 and 935 are superior guns. The overbore really helps their patterns as well. I may go back to the 935 someday. I guess I'm the kind of guy that would shoot a 4" gun if they made one. I set the 11-87 up for my 16 year old but the way it patterns I wouldn't hesitate to carry it if I wasn't planning on doing a lot of running one day. I agree 100% on the recoil on the 535. Kicks like it's MAD.
