thinkin about a rifle for JW to get started on,,thought about another M4 but for a lot less $$ I could get the Pump action Remington 223 that is just like the M$ except it`s a pump instead of auto,,it has the 6 position stock and even takes any magazine that will work in the AR15,,

makes alot of sense to me,,

Looks pretty good. I see the msrp is 9 something. What is a real world price on one? You can get a DPMS sportical for $600 plus transfer fees. It doesn't have the forward assist, brass deflector hump, or dust cover. Also the receiver is thicker than a regular AR but they are a good rifle. The Rifleman had a write up on them a month or so ago. We have one and it shoots as good as my other AR with no hitches in several 100 rounds. Plateau Hunter

Last summer when everyone was trying to buy AR's, I saw a couple of those at a gun show in Memphis for a little over $500. Might even be a little cheaper now.
Can't go wrong with a Remington pump rifle. I've carried one since I was a kid. Once you get past the terrible trigger, they're pretty much bomb proof!
If I was looking for a "kid" rifle, I'd check out the Predator model. Comes in Mossy Oak Brush finish and you can get them in 223,204 Ruger and 243.

Just checked Gunbroker...$500 to $650. Didn't see an adjustable stock model, but I bought an adjustable stock for an 870 Youth model (they take the same stock) last year for under $50. I think it's an ATI.
Another route would be to find a used 760 and put that stock on it!
