preference for my answer. I have both and they are both mounted on my table.

When I do pistol reloading, I like my turret, I can leave all of my dies up at once.


I leave my old RCBS Rock Crusher set up for resizing bottle neck cases.

I actually got that press at a yard sale for $20




I haven't joined the Progressive nation yet, - one day :D
 
A single stage would be best to start with imo. They are simpler, cheaper, and stronger. It only takes a few seconds to change from a resizing die to a seating die. If you are only shooting rifle rounds a single stage is fast enough imo unless you are trying to feed an AR a lot. The RCBS would be hard to beat. They market a reloading kit package at a decent price. Also there are great deals to be had on ebay for used reloading equipment. Plateau Hunter
 
You'll have to buy extra adapters for every die you use with that press. They may be easier to change but it doesn't take long to screw in a die on a standard press. If changing from caliber to caliber you really don't save a lot of time with the turret. If loading only one caliber it lets you keep everything set up and does help. If going with Lee I'd probably get the Lee Cast press and then buy RCBS accessories. They stand behind their products very well. I've got a cheap Lee press and one of the hand presses also that have seen a lot of use through the years. If starting from scratch I'd probably buy the Rockchucker kit or the Lee Cast Single-Stage press with RCBS scale and accessories.
 
I use the older style Lee press that came with the Anniversary kit. I only load rifle shells, and being an anal retentive, I tend to weigh every charge, so a single stage press is just fine. I might someday get another used press somewhere to have my seating or de-capping die in.
