I can't seem to find it in the regs so I'm asking here...what is the state statue regarding how far you must be off the road when hunting deer?

I believe there is no reg.... Just can't be in the right of way. And obviously can't shoot across roads.

I can't find this anywhere in the handbook. I seem to recall that it used to be 100 yds when I went through safety course many years ago but I could be wrong. I don't want to make an assumption but if it isn't in the book now I wonder if it is a reg. However I would check with TWRA to be certain. I am curious about this as well. I know that you cannot hunt(fire any weapon for purpose of hunting) from or across a public road or right-of-way.

I think it's 100 yds from a residence without permission to be closer. For some reason I seem to think it's only 100 FEET off a road but maybe not.

You can't shoot from or across the right of way. Roads have a right of way measured from the center. Distances vary greatly.

Yep I think you correct on the residence distance. Thanks for the clarification.

I found the regs concerning a residence. it says that when hunting on WMA a hunter must be no closer than 100yards from the dwelling unless they have permission of the homeowner...roads I cant seem to find

Yep, and actually, it's any public lands. Maybe the reason I didn't remember it being a public land rule is because it says .."whether or not such a dwelling is on public or private lands."

No idea where I got the 100 ft rule. No such thing as others posted. Just can't hunt on the right of way or shoot across it.
