Redington Fly Rods

The basics:

I'm cheap. I'll fly fish for bluegill about 3 to 6 times a year. The 6 weight South Bend rod I have now is overkill and feels like I'm casting on a broom stick. Redington Crosswater rods are affordable and come in a nice 7'6 4 weight package. Reviews are favorable. Any experience with them to share before I get it?

I rarely fly fish and when I do it's for bluegill and for fun. I don't need a kit as I have reels and God knows what else scattered around here. I know where I'm buying from. Unless someone has a horror story to share I'm gonna pull the trigger on this deal but I just can't pass up giving you all the chance to weigh in on it.

Never heard of it. But I still have the White river fly rod that I bought7 years ago from BPS

They are perfectly fine for what you are doing, and a significant upgrade compared to what you are using now. I personally do not care for them for my own use, but I haven't bream fished in 20 years. I prefer the super fast high modulus rods, and generally fish Sage's.

As I said though, for what you are looking for and wanting to invest there is nothing wrong with the rods you mentioned.

take a popping bug over with the hook off and cast it. should be fine, although a 5 wt might drive that bug a little better. Check one TFO rods as well if you can't get the price you want. Solid and fast. Saw Lefty Kreh empty a fly line one day with half of a rod.
