Red Dot Sights?

Since I have never used one I was looking for info on these sights, I have been thinking of setting up a youth rifle with one. The reason I was thinking along this line was last year my granddaughter had trouble focusing the scope on her rifle and I thought this might be a better choice for 1st time hunters, any thoughts on this? thanks Danny

the farther the target the bigger the dot, this can cause problems. i would try a fixed 4x?

Great for close work, but as TennBuck said the dots are usually 4-5 moa which translates into the dot covering a 4-5 inch area at 100 yds or 8-10 inch area at 200yds, you get the drift. Most red dots are hard to see during bright light, but graet in darker areas. Go for the red/green dot which gives you the choice of color, green is better for mid day hunts, got one on my 10-22.

I agree Pascal, just wish I had the time with her to do that, between my work schedule and opportunities to see her its hard to do, but will do more with her before youth season.She is my oldest gransddaughter and judging from last yearshe is having an ambidextrious problem with the gun. She does some things lefthanded and some things right and was confused with which eye to use shooting a rifle. I tried to find her dominant eye but couldn,t, don,t know if it was me or her but anway couldn,t get it across to her. This will be one of my priorities this year, thanks Danny
