I gave a gunsmith a red dot sight to mount on my CZ PO1.
Three weeks and $395 later he called and said it is done.
My question is this...he had to buy the mount and mount it and the sight, is that an appropriate charge for the work done?
Not being familiar with what was involved in mounting the sight, I'm just curious what the pistol world thinks.

It does seem pretty steep to me. You provided the sight and he provided the mount. A mount for that pistol should be anywhere from $80-120 I would think. Did he have to tap and drill the mounting holes as well?

Not sure what he had to do.
I'll pick the gun up later today and ask him about what he had to do.

Without you knowing what he did; its hard to say.

A red dot mount that replaces the rear sight for that gun is $90 retail. So $300 to put it on sounds high.

If he milled the slide and bought a mounting plate that price seems about right.

Picked the gun up. He bought a new sight and mount and mounted it all.
Now, that price seems VERY reasonable.
I can return the original sight and mount I gave him, for a refund.
I bought the laser insert (bullet type) and aligned the sight for 25 yds.
Will get to the range to fine tune but it should be on paper to start with.
