I need a high quality headlight for this fall. I would also like it to go green or red if possible and dim for stealth. I really need a bright setting for riding an electric bike in the dark. Anyone have a favorite they recommend? For me a battery model is better than recharging.

I've owned Tikka, Black Diamond and Petzl in different models. I like the ones with the flipdown lens to go from red to white, the replaceable lenses ones are ok, and the different color LEDs ones are a bit better but after the novelty wears off I find I revert back to red and white, white white winning out overall. I carry a seperate flashlight to do blood tracking with, with multicolor LEDs, so a white light headlamp is often used.
 
I have a Black Diamond Spot that I really like. I has a really bright white light, but the red light is not bright enough to navigate with. It's great if you're walking an established trail or to use while you're climbing a tree and getting gear situated in your stand. I really like the lockout feature to prevent the battery from draining in my pack (that's a must for headlights going forward). Battery life is good using lithiums.
 
I bought my daughter a few years ago a Streamlight 61070 BuckMasters Trident Headlamp, Camo and liked it so much I bought myself one for last year.

I have a couple of those that I used for years.
 
I have both a bushnell rechargeable and battery the recharge is 300 lumens and the battery is 250 both have red modes but the recharge has a white light flood mode that can be dimmed and is just enough light to do stuff in a tree stand or walking out it also has a more consisted beam that will shine 75 yards easy and also dims. The regular battery operated has the beam as well and will dim but instead of a flood light has a blood tracking light that's a blue color that doesnt work that great on blood. If I remember right the rechargeable is $30 at Walmart and the battery operated is $25 both are great light and stay charged awhile.
 
I've used a Streamlight Trident for years. Would be hard to get me to switch from anything else.

I just got the black diamond in and I like it. I hope it holds up cause it's super lightweight. Thanks for the recommendations.
 
I don't see it on Luna Cycles site anymore but Dennis, Brad and I all bought lights from them that are super bright and plug directly into the batteries charging port...super simple. I'll see if I can find the light elsewhere online.
 
I use the Black Diamond Storm and it is great. One NOT to get is the Sure Fire Saint Minimus. I have had two of them and neither would turn on in temps under 30 degrees.
