My son is a collector of old military rifles... He has at least one of everything, or at least it seems that way... Anyway, we were working on a Mosin earlier and absolutely could not get the bore squeaky clean.....
Last night we worked on another Mosin in his stash and we have the bore shining like a mirror.... We used copper killer and followed up with Gunslick foam....
The Mosin we are working on now is really being stubborn.
The first one we cleaned was made in 1945... The "Stubborn" one was made in 1925.. It don't look like it has been cleaned since then...
Any suggestions?

You might not be able to get a shiny bore. Some Mosins are dark due to metal composition and corrosive primers. You might try some JB bore paste on a tight fitting patch and polish the bore first. But don't go overboard with the JB as you are actually lapping the bore. Try about 30 strokes and then clean with butchs bore shine and check for improvement. If you don't see improvement, I really wouldn't worry to much about it. I have a dark bore 91 that is even counterbored and it shoots great.
