Recommend a .22LR

Any particular .22 rifle you recommend? I am considering a Marlin 60, possibly a Ruger 10/22.

I've got both..I got the 10/22 tricked out wtih after market stock and hi cap mags and other little goodies,definatly fun to set it up.The Marline Mod 60 is an awesome little gun.Have had it for over 10 yrs now and the thing still shoots like new,very accurate also for a semi auto.Its definatly more accurate out of the box than a 10/22..But like I said,the 10/22 has tons of after market stuff for it..The Marlin mod 60 pretty much has none,but still a very very good rifle,can't go wrong with either one.

Of the two you mentioned I would go with the Ruger, but you might want to at least look at the CZ mentioned on here.

CZ is great for the moolah, buy the 452 before they're all gone

the CZ I got is the 513,,it is same as 452 except it doesnt have the set trigger,,it took some filing and polishing but I got it breaking clean and crisp,,it is all metal and wood except for the magazine,,bottom metal and all is steel,,

shot 7,000+ rounds since Christmas with zero feed or extract problems,,shoots one hole groups at 50 yards with cheap bulk ammo,,

may be the best 300$ I spent,,the 452`s are nicer and the single set trigger is awesome,,quality wise I would put the 452 American on par with the Kimber,or better as the one my brother has has feeding problems,,at less than half the cost,,

I say get a CZ 453 just an upgrade from a 452. I can shoot 5 touching off the bed of the truck at 50 yds with a 4X scope. You can definitely ear hole a squirrel.

I have a Marlin 60 and several Ruger 10/22's and the Ruger is the better rifle hands down.

With that being said, my model 60 has been shot literally several hundred THOUSAND times, so it ain't nothing to scoff at.

Got my girlfriend a savage 64 for Christmas and she loves it. It a nice accurate gun.

What are you looking for a bolt, lever or semi auto?
semi autos i must agree with the 10/22 or the model 60 marlin.
i have 6 kids and 6 grand kids, all have 60's thousands of rounds put through them.
the 10/22 is also a great shooter with the endless options of accessories.
the cz hands down for the bolt guns. pricey but a good envestment
the savage 64 good contenter.
the marlin 39 lever and the henry for the more budget minded.
and a note: the rem 597 in my opion is not a contender.
the 22 mag has been recalled for bolt issues. and the LR version has the same issues. remington is only offering $150:00 in "rem bucks" towards a purchase of another rem gun. 1/2 the price of the purchase price.

What are you looking for a bolt, lever or semi auto?

Honestly, I don't really know, as I've never actually shot a .22 rife. I guess I am leaning towards a semi auto.

I don't necessarily need a rifle with a lot of bells and whistles. I just want a good simple rifle that I can put a scope on it and shoot well.

I will go to some of the local gun shops and look around.

Auto: Ruger 10/22
Lever: Browning BL22, Win 9422, or Marlin 39A

In levers hard to beat any of the Marlins.

Never ran into trouble with any of there semi autos either.

I do like the 77/22 bolt and the old A bolt 22.
