So , I lost my glasses on the tractor mowing and waiting on my new pair. Ive been using $2 readers to get by until they come in.. Been in the woods hunting alot this season. Ive seen several deer but haven't been quite able to put it together. Either to far, not a clean shot etc..
Well today as im going to my stand I see one of my shooters walking across the other end of an opening about 100 yds away.
I quietly get to my stand and 30 min or so later he walks out of the woods 50 yds or so from me.I watch as he comes in to 25 yds and put my glasses on (readers) to see my pin.
I pull back and look through the peep and my glasses are fogged from the humidity and my heavy breathing. I look over the glasses and find him again but the pins are blurry from my near sightedness. I continue at full draw looking over and through the glasses and finally realease the arrow. He jumps and runs 20 yds looking around trying to figure out what happened and so am I !!
I knock another arrow and watch as he looks around for at least 15 min before going out of sight into the woods he came.
I see him again a few minutes later moving through the woods down below to my left .
He comes into an opening this time at 40 yds.
I draw again and same thing, im trying to find him through the foggy glasses.
I release arrow number 2 and he bolts like is hit.
I wait listen for 30 min or so and go find both arrows. Both clean misses!!!
Ugh... :bash:

One good thing is that they were clean misses. Sounds like an ideal hunting area.

Better luck next time!

I'm frustrated for and with ya. Seems like the older you get the easier it should be to kill deer because of experience. But our aging bodies keep making it harder to kill deer every year. Is that a catch 22?

Put some anti fog on them babies and get back after him!

Been there done that! Lost 1 of my contacts on the way into the woods. My aiming eye, missed a doe at literally 15 yards, lesson learned for sure

That's a kick in the pants for sure. I'd be looking at some anti fog to put on the glasses. It's only going to get colder, although I'm sure the rain didnt help. Good luck getting on him again!

That's the problem needing to wear glasses, seem like they fog up at the wrong time, and always the dominant eye first. Sorry you didn't get him, but glad they were clean misses.

Rub liquid soap like dawn on them really good and wipe clean. They'll last fog free a week or two. I did it to mine years ago while playing softball and bow hunting more. Did it to my sons rec specs when he played ball. After wearing contacts 20+ years I had lasik 2 days ago and love it. Still need readers some but a great trade off to me.

I'll PM you my number. I'm far sighted...between the two of us we're a "well oiled, killing machine". I can't see my pin until I'm at full draw. Aaaahhh....getting old is great id'nt?

Go get yourself some anti fog ski goggles and get back out there. Please have the goggles on when you take your picture with him. THAT...would be a keeper.

Similar experiences with low light and progressive glasses sent me to the store for a new crossbow. Turkey face masks are the worst for fogging up glasses.

I know what ya mean I had glasses for a year and couldn't handle it and went to contacts. I've been lucky and havent lost a contact yet but I know it will happen at some point.
