Re-making cover areas?

I have two small areas on my place (2-3 acres each) that deer used to bed down or stay around regularly. The past year or so the deer sighting around these areas have dropped off tremendously. I think the areas have grown out of the cover stage and the deer don't feel secure there anymore. Do I just need to go in there and cut all the tall stuff down?

Thats what i would do, Jan/Feb is a good time. Some spots i set back every 3 years, some every 5-10. Somes spots i beef up around the edges to make it a little bigger. If nothing else in the area has changed to make those spots less attractive, i would do what you said.

Cut some clean, hingecut some so it will stay alive on the ground for a few years.
