Rattling

First off there's a big difference in sound in a 116" set of rattling antlers and a 128" set...and the real deals sound better than any fakes. If you've put yours away or haven't used them you might want to consider breaking them back out. We've rattled up 5 bucks in the last couple of days; all different bucks in different sequences at different times of the day. Biggest was a 125"er. This is on the Fayette/Hardeman County line.

I messed around with rattling today. Worked both times.. Well kinda. My first attempt was blind calling. I made a rookie mistake though.. Mature bucks will circle you most times and even some young bucks will. Whatever it was it came running but most likely winded me and I never heard not seen it again to my knowledge. I usually like to set up where my wind is blowing in the center of an opening so I can catch the bucks trying to circle down wind. I either do that or set up where there is a barrier of some sort to my downwind side

The second time was while I could see two young bucks bedded in the same kudzu field together. One came, one didn't.

When you see a buck (125") 7 pointer running a doe, grab your antlers , and rattle like crazy you really don't expect to see anything but those deer disappearing into the distance. Nadda. That bad boy dropped that doe like a bad habit and came charging in all bristled up looking for a fight. Love it when that happens.
