Long ago and far away on the UP of MI, hunters used long, big, rat-tailed combs to call deer. They ran their fingers down the teeth and it would at times, attract deer. They did not know why it worked, they just knew it did.
Many years later and a lot closer to us, Jerry Peterson and our own Gary Cook developed a deer call that sounded a great deal like the comb. Of course it was much more advanced and the tone was adjustable. The principle was the same. It had a glottal pulse. In other werds...it clicked.
